Ewa Doroszenko contacted us to share her project “Copy Cat”. With a PhD from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun and an MFA in painting, Ewa is very well educated and it shows in this set.
The “Copy Cat” photographs and photographic installations are the author’s original visualisation of cloning as depicted in futuristic science or literature. The photographs feature multiple images of the body. The work was mainly inspired by mankind’s (as well as the author’s) eternal longing to take control of the creation of our own species, which in theoretical terms is possible these days. The core of the project is multiplication of human body, a controversial, but also equally fascinating and enrapturing concept.
